Press release: CTG’s Eddy Peters Named Chairman of itSMF Belgium
Eddy Peters to Spearhead Organization's Focus on Digital Transformation and the Role of IT Professionals in Business Over Three-Year Term
The global organisation IT Service Management Forum (itSMF) has appointed Eddy Peters of CTG, a leading global IT solutions provider, as its Belgian Chairman. In this role, Peters will support the exchange of digitisation knowledge, methodologies, and technologies throughout the Belgian IT professional community. Most importantly, over his three-year term he will drive itSMF's top priority in Belgium of improving collaboration between IT professionals and business.
itSMF provides a network where service management practitioners, service providers, customers, and vendors can share knowledge, experience, and views. Peters becomes the fifth president in the history of itSMF Belgium, succeeding Bart Van Brabant, former CIO of Coreso. Peters will assume his role as head of the organization in 2021. During his term, he will create opportunities for IT professionals to learn from each other about how today's companies can begin to transition to the role of a digital service provider. He will also leverage online events to encourage better interaction and collaboration between IT professionals and other departments.
"IT people are passionate when it comes to technology, but they don't always succeed in explaining the results and impact of their technologies to their colleagues on the business side. I want to help improve this relationship between IT and the business over the next three years through itSMF," said Peters, CTG ITSM consultant, and incoming itSMF Belgium Chairman.
IT Professionals Need to Discover the Marketer Inside Them
Technology is mature and frameworks and methodologies are well established. However, the human aspect remains a challenge within IT. That is why itSMF Belgium, under Peters's leadership, will focus on developing a positive relationship between IT and business over the next three years. itSMF Belgium wants to be more than just a knowledge platform for working with processes.
"It is important that I broaden our horizons at itSMF. IT is no longer the technology department that talks in bits and bytes. In addition to this digital dimension, IT professionals must discover the marketer within themselves and clearly explain how their code or technical solution helps move the business forward. These human skills will be given more attention in the coming years as a part of itSMF 'Belgium's focus,” Peters explained.
Sharing International Knowledge Through Online Events
COVID-19 has compelled isSMF to replace physical events with online events. An online forum has the benefit of allowing itSMF members to access valuable knowledge from other international itSMF communities. Peters will work to further develop this international dimension.
